The future of forests is an urgent concern today, and responsible and sustainable forest management can ensure that environmental, economic and social standards are fully met. Forest certification systems aim to implement good forest management practices based on sustainable principles. The three types of certification are Forest Management, Forest Chain of Custody (CoC) and Controlled Wood. Forest Management ensures forests are managed according to sustainability requirements. Forest Chain of Custody (CoC) ensures materials are identified and separated from uncontrolled materials. Controlled Wood certifies that companies do not include wood categories considered unacceptable in certified products. These products, with their associated labels, provide end consumers with a guarantee of forest responsibility.
